With TextExpander, users can save thousands of keystrokes by using short abbreviations to automate the typing of frequently-used phrases, addresses, responses and email signatures. Images can be included in a snippet, making it easy to add a logo or photo to an email. Current date and time can be inserted in any format preferred. Very useful the icon in the menu bar. SmileOnMyMac acquired Textpander earlier this month from developer Peter Maurer, renamed it TextExpander, and prepared the new release. DVDRemaster is a great utility for Mac OS X to recompress large DVDs so that they fit on standard DVD5 or you can export to your video iPod or iPhone. PopChar is not just a new version of PopChar: it has been completely redesigned and rebuilt from ground up. Please see the history page for a list of new and improved feature! PopChar is a great utility that lets you insert special characters, accented and foreign letters , HTML symbol and everything else you need into your documents. It's very easy to use: just pop up the PopChar window (resizeable: up to the full screen), click the desired character, and the character appears in your current document. No more keyboard combinations to remember: everything is ready for you within a clic and you will see the keystroke combination on the bottom right of Popchar window. Fonts are automatically chosen by Popchar in Word, Excel, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, InDesign, FileMaker and BBEdit and few others. You can access the contents of your recent, favorite, and open folders right from Default Folder X's toolbar. Its hierarchical pop-up menus expand as you mouse over them, letting you navigate your folders to get to your files. To work faster, you can assign a keyboard shortcut for all of your favorite folders. If an Open and Save dialog isn't open, then you can use Default Folder X's menu bar, Dock icon, or keyboard shortcuts. Click on greyed-out filenames instead of typing them in Save dialogs. Instead of typing the name for a new file in a Save dialog, you can option-click on the name of an existing file to copy it. Default Folder remembers the sorting order in the Open and Save dialogs of applications. Pacifist is a very useful application that helps you to check, like a detailed scan image, before installing what and where is going to be installed on your computer. It opens Mac OS X .pkg package files, .dmg disk image files, and .zip, .tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, and .xar archive files and allows you to extract individual files and folders out of them. Just drag an installer package onto the Pacifist icon: you will see a list of all the files in the package, organized by the target installation directory. You can also get detailed information about each file: its permissions, size, and file type. This functionality alone can be very helpful for previewing installations. But Pacifist's real power is that it lets you verify installations and extract or install any file from within a package. For example, if you recently updated OS X via an installer package, and now you're having problems, open that package in Pacifist and click on the Verify button. Pacifist will check to see whether all files are installed correctly and have the right permissions, and it will provide a full report of the results. Discrepancies may indicate an installation problem, and reinstalling might fix it. This is useful, for instance, if an application which is installed by the operating system becomes damaged and needs to be reinstalled without the hassle of reinstalling all of Mac OS X (for example, if you had accidentally deleted Preview and wanted to reinstall it, but not the whole operating system).
